Who are you? That is a questions that I hear a lot lately. Jacob is an extrovert, I don't know where he got it. Certainly not from me. It could be from the constant attention he received throughout his 6 years on this planet. His red hair and pleasant smile attracted the grandmas and moms to our grocery cart and the swings at the playgrounds.
Now, at 6, he is quite the politician/salesman. When he is asked who gave him that beautiful head of red hair, his standard reply has always been, "God and Mom did." But lately he has added, "Who are you?" and sincerely means it. He will politely wait while they tell him who they are and if they extend their hand, Jacob always gives them a good handshake. It's funny to watch and wonder what is in store for this little guy. Just like all of you parents, occassionally I wonder what my child will be when he grows up. Is he an artist? A baseball player? A teacher? A minister? A CEO? I don't think Jacob will end up being anything other than Jacob. He is his own spirit and with that gift, I don't usually think about what he will be, just who he is. And, I am happy. The same with all three boys.
But if he becomes president, watch out, we're in for one hell of a ride!
