Jacob's oldest brother, Anthony, has been gone a couple of days. He has been to a contest in Enid with the LHS Band. He hasn't had to deal with an irritating little brother during his time away. But, he came back today to a redhead, waiting to play his new game on the game system in Anthony's room.
Anthony was tired - not Jacob's fault. Anthony was hungry - again, not Jacob's fault. Anthony was not in the mood to help little brother with the game - shall I repeat?
We walked in the door after Anthony arrived home and all Jacob could talk about was his new game. "Sonic, this," and "Sonic, that." It was literally driving me crazy. After a few minutes of asking, Anthony finally gave in.
"Jacob you can play the game if you turn off the sound and don't make any noise. And, don't even THINK of asking me to help. I'm going to bed."
"Anthony, " little brother said, "how..."
"Jacob, I don't want to help you. I'm tired, figure it out yourself."
I could only think Anthony wanted Jacob to give up, and go away, like all big brothers want little brothers to do.
I watched as Jacob tried to work it out. Jacob finally took a page from the "Mothers With Teenagers" book. He said, "You know, for a smart kid, you've really got a bad altitude, mister."
So there.
