Vince is home for the weekend from Gore. Jacob was so excited to hang out with his big brother. As soon as we got to the school, Jacob hopped out of the car and ran to the house to find Vince. He looked all over the house and couldn't find brother anywhere. Jacob was heartbroken.
"Mom, where is my big brother? He's supposed to be here, and I can't find him," he said with tears streaming down his face.
"Jacob, he is still in school. We are early this afternoon, and we beat him to the house."
"Oh," was all he could say. He wiped his face and sat down on the couch to await his brother's arrival.
A few minutes later, the door flew open, and Jacob's face lit up like the sun. He looked through the crowd of boys, craned his neck until he saw the blonde headed boy he waited all day to see. Then he ran to his brother and slammed into him to give Vince the biggest hug he's ever had.
"Vince, I can help you get your stuff, let's go. I have so much to tell you about school, and cub scouts and pokemon and everything."
A few minutes later, we were driving down the road towards home. Vince was telling us of his accomplishments, and I noticed something terribly odd. Jacob was quiet. I looked back, and he had fallen asleep in his car seat. I guess the excitement of seeing his big brother again took it's toll on his little body.
Vince and I talked all the way home. As I pulled into the driveway of our house, Jacob woke up, talking. "Hey Vince, let's play."
And so began the fight. It was 8:45 p.m.
