Jacob's days are now filled with the frequent opportunity to better his writing and classroom manners. He has come a long way in a few short months. Well, I think he has. Before, he had a very hard time sitting in his seat. Now, he has a much easier time sitting in his seat, but at least he asks before he gets up from the chair. Before, Jacob would write on the desk at any given moment, whether or not he had a piece of paper. Now, he sticks with the paper only. Before, he thought he was the clown of his class. Now, he knows he's the clown of his class. Wait, we still have to work on that.
I envy these kids. As an adult, we rarely get the gift of starting over once a year, our lives are a continous barrage of jobs, traffic, grocery shopping, cell phones, after-school activities, and the occassional date with our significant other. But, these little guys are able to become someone different, everytime they go back to school. Whether or not they work on change over the summer break, they are new, to the teachers that greet them in their classrooms, one day in August. The smiles on every educator's face in Luther are truly genuine. This town is very lucky, and Jacob benefits from this gift.
Now, to do something about the class clown thing...
