Sunday school is a time of learning. The wonderful teachers at our little country church are so committed to the youth in this area. They make sure they give our kids information, trickled in with a lot of fun. And on our budget, that is a true miracle.
Jacob's teacher, Ms. Regina, is so full of life and the spirit of God, that I know he learns so much when he gets his head on right at the beginning of class. This day was different. Jacob wanted to sit and listen instead of asking a million questions. Regina took his attitude in stride. But shortly after class, she stopped me in the hall. Her concern for Jacob was, well, out of the ordinary since he was acting out of the ordinary. She told me about the lesson and the questions that were the focus of the lesson. The other kids offered answers, along with funny stories about their dogs or cats, but Jacob just sat and watched. After it was all said and done, he leaned over to Ms. Regina. He wanted to snuggle. He said the story really wasn't about the stuff the other kids were talking about. It was really about sharing.
She asked him what he was talking about. He talked about Paul and Silas preaching and teaching. They were sharing God's word just like Jesus did. Jacob told her of what he thought they were sharing with the people. He even said that Jesus was a great teacher and he shared a lot of things including himself. Jacob reminded Regina that Jesus shared his life with us, even now, even though he is in Heaven.
Like they say, "out of the mouths of babes", we see innocence and honesty. Just ask Jacob.
