Monday afternoon, Jacob decided to do his own thing. He has asked many times if he could ride the treadmill. "I really want to essercize, Mom," was his daily question. "No, Jacob. That is a very dangerous machine and you will get hurt." And, like all children, Jacob didn't believe me. He said, "No I won't. I have red hair, that means I'm smart and I promise I will be safe. I said, "No, you still can't."
So I finshed what I was doing and the next thing I heard was, "OHHHHHHHHHH," and the loudest scream that I have ever heard. Jacob was crying. Go figure. I ran to the room where I knew he would be. He was hurt. He had several "burns" on his face and arms where the belt continued to run and he was in the way. His 2 front teeth were crooked from when he fell face first on the treadmill housing. He didn't feel good to say the least.
After I assessed the "damage", I sat him down and we snuggled while the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse played on the tv. We talked in between the sobs and he told me that he never wanted to "essercize" again. At least not on the treadmill. He decided that weights would help him get into shape.
Lordy, lordy. I guess the next book will be "Being Jacob: A Trip to the Emergency Room".
